My New Niece!!!!!

Our Sweet Hannah Elizabeth Stephens is here!!!! And believe me when I say, she has her "Aunt B's" heart already. Hannah was born on October 30, 2009...yay for our Halloween Baby!!! She is the 2nd daughter of my very best friend Summer. I am so proud to be called this sweet little girls Aunt.

My Hannah Banana,
I am so honored to be your Aunt B. I am excited to be a part of the great adventure that is...seeing you and your big sister Alyssa grow up. My wish for the two of you is to achieve any dream that your imagination can give you.

Always know....

How much we all love you.

You can be whoever and whatever you want.

You can do anything that you set your mind to.

You can come to me for anything.

It is ok to not be like everyone else.

To use your own mind when forming your opinions.

Always remember...

Put God first in your choices.

The sky is the limit to your success in life, but it is up to you how far you go.

You always have a place to call home.

To Get out there and make a lot of noise.

To not settle for less than what you want and deserve.

To, for the love of God, come to me or your Mom (not your Dad) for all movie, TV, & music choices.

I'll love you forever my sweet niece. Oh yeah, it's been really nice meeting you.

Love,
Aunt B

My Soul-Mates

The other day...I got to thinking about Soul-Mates. Can you be so connected with someone that they become an essential part of who you are? And do I or will I ever have one? Being a twenty-six year old single woman, with absolutely no prospects...you can easily begin to have a cynical view of the subject. Seeing your family and friends in love and so happy that they are gitty about their special someones can almost make you feel sick to your stomach. Don't get me wrong, you are so happy for them, but seeing this only reminds you of what you do not have. I know, I know...cry me a river, right? Then I realized, not only are soul-mates real, but I have three! My best friends...Summer, Jenni, and Jennifer. These girls know me better than anyone and I'm really beginning to think they are the loves of my life. We have an unconditional love for one another. Therefore, in the words of Mr. Big, "Any man would be lucky to come in fourth." So, when I'm given the 500th wedding or baby photo to look at with my other family and friends. I tell myself how lucky I am that God has protected my heart and given me these three amazing people to share my life with. I do hope to someday find that special guy to be my mate for life, but until then I'm having a great time with the soul-mates I already have.
To my Sum, Jenni, and Fer...I love you guys!!!

Aunt B...That's Me!!!

I wanted to take this opportunity to say how excited I am about being an Aunt again! I already have two step-nephews and step-niece between my two step-sisters Mandy and Jennifer. Mandy and her husband Patrick have two kids...Tanner Patrick Thornton (aka Tanner man) and Catherine Joy Thornton (aka baby Cate). Jennifer and her husband Obed have one so far...Troy Justice Ellis. However, I do expect him to have brothers or sisters in the near future. Our little man Troy just turned 1 and it was a great party!! I really want to spend more time with these precious little ones so that I can be a real part of their lives. Children grow up so very fast and I have felt very convicted recently that besides my relationship with God, my family is the most important thing in my life. Because, in the end it is really all we have.

Now, as I was saying...I love being an Aunt. The first real hands-on Aunt experience that I've had, has been with my best friend Summer's daughter Alyssa. Alyssa Blair Stephens, is like my own child. I love her more than words can say, and it has been an honor to see her grow and change over the last three years. I'm here to tell you...she has her "Aunt B" wrapped around her little cutie pie finger.
As for being an Aunt again..yea!!! I have the honor of the title twice this year. The first to come is little princess Hannah Elizabeth Stephens. She is the 2nd daughter of my best friend Summer. Hannah Beth should be arriving around Novemeber 5th. Shortly after that we have Caleb Spurgeon Webb! the first child and son to my brother Stephen and his wife Rachel. Sir Caleb should be entering the world on November 12th. This is going to be a very busy couple of weeks for Aunt B. But I am sooo...excited! Watches are syncornized and numbers are programed into speed dials. It's just a waiting game now.

In the mean time, I am getting things ready for my part. That's right...Aunt B is hot on the case with big plans for these two. The first couple of years will be easy going. Just toys, zoo trips, sippy cups with napping and such on the side. Then comes wishing upon a star with Pinocchio, trips to Neverland with Peter Pan, Wendy, TinkerBell and that unforgettable Captain Hook. Next is our Safari along side Mowgli and Baloo in The Jungle Book. Man! have we got a lot ahead of us and I can't wait to tell you all about it. Until then I'm off to get things ready...2nd star to the right and straight on til morning.

Made in the 80s

Ah...The 80s. The decade of excess, Reagan-nomics, Hair bands, Challenger explosion, John Hughes and Speilberg movies, Bruce Springsteen, Micheal Jackson, Big hair and Mtv. What a great time to be a kid. It was the "Good Time" era. The age of being modern. When old was out and new was in.

I will always remember....watching Mtv when they actually played music videos. Walking around singing..."You give love a bad name" by Bon Jovi. Telling my mom I wanted to be Joan Jett or a spokesmodel on StarSearch. Having a My Little Pony Lunch box. Getting a Light Bright for Christmas. And sleeping with my glow worm. Playing SuperMan and SuperGirl with my Dad. We would pin towels around our necks and run around the house pretending to fly. Dancing in my room to Ice Ice Baby and memorizing all the words. Playing with my barbies for hours. lugging my Pink boom box everywhere I went. So I could listen to my New Kids on the Block tape. Joey was my favorite. Dressing up in my poodle skirt 50's outfit to watch Grease. Having a pair of mc hammer pants. That were tie dyed and had "Can't Touch This" on the butt. Getting a playhouse for my 5th Birthday. Watching Miami Vice with my Stepdad. And riding in a limo with my mom on her 30th birthday.

It was a "totally awesome", "rad" time and I could go on and on. In closing, when thinking about all of these little facts of my childhood. Only one word comes to mind..FUN!!!

My Friends...A Breed All Their Own

I have the most diverse, interesting, intelligent, loving, funny, genuine, talented, beautiful, annoying, aggravating and irritating friends in the world. I honestly do not know what I would do without them.
My 3 best friends are Summer, Jennifer (aka "Fer"), and Jenni. These are my girls...my blood. I love them dearly and each for different reasons. Summer...the wild one. (without whom...I would never know the people i'm going to mention. I sware...you're like the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon"). Oh, the times we've had! We go back a long way. Over 20 years! daycare to present. You are my Romie and i'm your Michelle. You make me a funner person just by being around you. I can't believe you're a mom. Allow yourself to be great. I love you my sister from another mister. Jennifer...my fer-baby. My cynical touchstone. You always tell me to go for what I want in life. Challenge me to leave my inhabitations behind. Think outside the box and go big or go home. Without you we'd never eat as a group or have a free bed & breakfast. Jenni...my favorite Canadian and fellow musical lover. You make me want to be a kinder person. Have a better attitude and generally love life more. I am so glad your family moved here and I met you. You couldn't ask for better friends...and I don't even like girls.

My boys are next. I'll tell ya...a girl is lucky if she has guy friends like I do. We have the most riveting conversations about: current events, jokes, football, hunting, police codes, guitar chords, etc. Most of which I chime in to say Ew! and What? Even though the list is long. I'd like to mention a few. Howard...thank you for loving music as much as I do and being a good boyfriend to Fer. You are going to do great things and have no idea how talented you are. Never give up on your music! Tres...my Tres Tres. Thanks for your tomatoe gravy, your comedy routines and always having a smile on your face. Tomlin...my JT. Thanks for always being my dance partner and listening when I need to talk. Justin...my Jackers. Thanks for being a good friend, loving sushi as much as I do, making me laugh and generally aggravating the mess out of me most of the time.
The rest of you know who you are and what you mean to me and will be mentioned in another blog later...promise! As I close...I'm reminded of the saying "Your friends are the family you get to choose." and thank God for that.

Hello Blogger World

Hello there blogger world!!! My name is Honey Brooke Adams. Friends call me..."B". First of all, ROLL TIDE!!!!! and go DALE JR!!! Ok, just to get a few things out of the way...Although not a typical one. YES I am a Christian (I serve an awesome God! whom guides and helps me everyday!) and I do vote Republican most of the time, SUE ME. Hey, somebody's gotta draw the line somewhere. I have the normal life of someone single and in their twenties. I work, go out with friends (I have the best and most amazing friends EVER!!! and don't know what I'd do without them), and spend time with my family. Being a product of the 80's and from SWEET HOME ALABAMA. I am a little bit country, and alot ROCK-N-ROLL! With all 80's flare, of course. This means I'm very modern with a rock-country kick. In other words...I like bon-fires and fashion shows. I'm not afraid to admit...I like to have my hair and make-up done before going ANYWHERE. A rock-chick to the core...everything I do is usually done in a t-shirt, jeans, and heels. I love my life and everyone in it. God has truly blessed me with wonderfully amazing family and friends. I am so happy to be sharing with you as I go down this incredibly fascinating road we call...LIFE.
